双胞胎（twins，又称孪生子、双生儿等）指胎生动物一次怀胎生下两个个体的情况。其一般可分为同卵双胞胎和异卵双胞胎两类。同卵双胞胎指两个胎儿由一个受精卵发育而成，异卵双胞胎是由不同的受精卵发育而成的。在人类社会，全世界双胞胎平均出生率为1∶89。（即平均每89个孕妇妊娠，会有一个孕妇生出双胞胎。）
